Peter Jackson et Steven Spielberg portant les chapeaux de Dupond et Dupont sur le tournage du film, où Jamie Bell (« King Kong ») incarne Tintin, Andy Serkis le capitaine Haddock, Simon Pegg et Nick Frost (« Shawn of the Dead ») les Dupond et Dupont, Daniel Craig Rackham le Rouge, Gad Elmaleh étant Ben Salaad, aux côtés de Toby Jones (« The Mist ») et Mackenzie Crook (« Pirates des Carabes »).
Ecrit par Steven Moffat (« Dr. Who »), Edward Wright (« Shawn of the Dead ») et Joe Cornish, le film, tourné en motion capture par Spielberg, est le premier volet d`une trilogie dont le second épisode sera dirigé par Peter Jackson, coproducteur avec Spielberg et Kathleen Kennedy.
La sortie est prévue pour 2011.
