C’est la scénariste Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess is a Loser) est aux commandes de la préquelle de « Simetierre », marquant ses débuts en tant que réalisatrice. Elle ra rédigé le scénario, basé sur le projet antérieur de Jeff Buhler. Rappelons que la première adaptation du roman de Stephen King, en 1989, avait elle aussi été signée par une femme, à savoir Mary Lambert laquelle enchaina trois ans plus tard avec une séquelle, un remake ayant été tourné en 2019 sous la direction de Kevin Kölsch et Dennis Widmyer.
Le film sera diffusé sur Paramount + le 6 octobre
